Yannick Jadot is not one to throw oil on the fire.

The ex-ecologist presidential candidate even confides that he "regrets the controversies", such as that on the barbecue, of which his colleague Sandrine Rousseau noted the "symbol of virility" side.

The MEP EELV rather called on France Info his political family to "enlighten" rather than "ignite" the debate, admitting to having barbecued this summer while preparing "also the salad and the vegetables to accompany" the meat.

According to him, the “French men and women are perfectly aware of climate change and they look at political offers and our responsibility is to shed light on the debate and provide answers, (…) it is not to inflame debate ".

“We have to carry out its major transformations, we have to be very educational and always manage to articulate the major global challenges and the daily life of French men and women,” he added.

He nevertheless advises the French "to lower their meat consumption" because "it is essential from the point of view of health, that is what all the doctors say, and it is obviously essential from the point of view of the climate and of animal suffering”.

But "I'm not for the ban on meat, I defend peasant farming," he said.

Which is not really the debate raised by Sandrine Rousseau, who called in Grenoble to "change mentality so that eating a steak cooked on a barbecue is no longer a symbol of virility".
