China News Service, August 31. According to comprehensive foreign media reports, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a document on August 30, local time, that there is evidence that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) tried to obtain information from former U.S. President Trump in June. When Mar-a-Lago retrieved classified documents, its team could hide and remove documents to thwart the investigation, prompting the FBI to search Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in August.

Reuters reported that the U.S. Department of Justice released a 54-page document that listed evidence of obstruction of justice by Trump’s team and publicly accused Trump aides of misleading the FBI in June that special Trump had returned all government records stored at Mar-a-Lago when he left the White House.

When FBI agents first traveled to Mar-a-Lago to retrieve classified government documents in June, Trump's lawyers "expressly prohibited government personnel from opening or viewing any boxes in storage," the documents reveal.

The Justice Department said it made multiple attempts to retrieve all records.

But ultimately it found evidence that more material remained at Mar-a-Lago, which the Trump team withheld from investigators.

"The government has evidence that the records may have been hidden and removed from storage, a move that likely involved obstruction of government investigations," the document states.

CNN said the document strongly refutes criticism of the FBI's unprecedented search of Trump's home, clearly setting out how Trump was after his lawyers proved that he had provided all the classified documents in his possession Dozens of classified documents have not been returned since then.

Trump filed a lawsuit on Aug. 22 to block the Justice Department from "further reviewing" material seized from Mar-a-Lago until a "special director" was appointed to oversee the review.

The Justice Department has expressed strong opposition.
