A retired couple was attacked on Sunday while walking on the banks of the Seine in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne), at the end of the day.

Three criminals attacked the 85-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife.

But the latter defended herself and seriously injured one of the assailants, reports

While the thug was attacking the octogenarian, thrown to the ground and beaten, the woman took an Opinel knife out of her bag.

She stabbed the man in the side as the two accomplices fled.

Alerted, the police and emergency services quickly went to the scene.

In absolute urgency

The attacker was transferred to the hospital, in a state of absolute emergency.

His condition improved and he was finally able to be taken into custody.

The retired couple were also taken to hospital with multiple injuries.

The investigation must continue with the hearing of the victims and witnesses of the scene.
