A government delegation who visited the United States to discuss the issue of discrimination against Korean electric vehicles under the Inflation Reduction Act and the IRA proposed a 'joint consultation window' to the United States, and the United States responded positively.

Ahn Seong-il, head of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's new trade and order strategy department, of the government delegation, met with reporters on the way home after a three-day, two-night visit to the US on the 31st local time.

Ahn said that during his visit to the US, he visited all relevant ministries such as the US Trade Representative, the Commerce Department, the Treasury Department, and the State Department, and also met with the Senate Senior Specialist to discuss the issue of discrimination against Korean electric vehicles.

Ahn said that each US department was already well aware of Korea's concerns and said, "They conveyed our situation, corporate position, the atmosphere of the National Assembly, and the sentiments of the Korean people well, and the US side took the seriousness seriously." .

"The White House took this issue very seriously and was aware of our concerns," he said.

Ahn said that he suggested that a joint consultation window is necessary as this issue is not a matter of specific ministries, but that several ministries are involved, and the US side responded that it was ready to discuss it in the same way.

However, he added, "The US side also said that the law itself is a matter of the legislative branch and that it should be analyzed because it has just been passed."
