A one-way trip for Imam Hassan Iquioussen.

The Council of State gave the green light for the expulsion of the latter on Monday.

In Lourches near Valenciennes, in front of his home, a police device was set up from one end of the street to the other.

It now remains to be seen whether the man is really at home.

The Council of State has decided: the institution validated Monday the expulsion of Imam Hassan Iquioussen to Morocco.

"We will try to arrest him before tonight," said a police source.

As of Monday afternoon, a police device was set up around the home of the imam, as confirmed by the correspondent of Europe 1. The imam lives in Lourches, near Valenciennes in the North.

If he must be quickly expelled, he still remains discreet about his whereabouts.

A practically invisible man

Hassan Iquioussen lives in a vast property, a massive building which happens to be a disused former EDF power station.

At the two entrances to the street where his house is located, the police are present from Tuesday.

Officially, it would only be a simple roadside check, confided the commissioner in charge of the operation to Europe 1. In reality, we still do not know if the preacher who is the subject of the procedure of expulsion is indeed in his home.

Inside the house, there were no signs of life.

Europe 1 was able to chat with one of the imam's sons, Loqmane, who lives a few houses above: Hassan Iquioussen would simply not be there.

Monday evening, impossible to verify.

In fact, perhaps the imam is in another of his properties in the Valenciennes region.

For the time being, the police force remains in place and the cars which arrive at the entrance to the street are systematically searched by the police and the motorists checked.

All this under the somewhat circumspect eye of the few residents of the street.

Several residents have also explained to Europe 1 that for several days, the imam has been practically invisible.
