On Tuesday evening, the Dalarna-profiled KD politician Lennart Sacrédeus announces that he is withdrawing his candidacy for the Riksdag.

Sacrédeus was criticized by, among others, the party's district chairman Elin Åhman after a paragraph about abortion in the flyer sent out to households in Dalarna attracted attention.

"More can be done in the form of support efforts and adoptions to welcome the unborn child to life," writes Sacrédeus and calls abortion "medically assisted suicide."

Mats Knutson: The abortion issue has complicated it for a long time for KD

During Tuesday's hearing, Ebba Busch was asked questions on the subject.

The party leadership for the Christian Democrats obviously wants to be sure that the issue will not come up in the election campaign, says Mats Knutson.

- It is not a bad guess that the party leadership had a hand in the game when Sacrédeus gave his announcement, because the abortion issue has complicated things for KD in several election campaigns, he says.
