According to the publication, a number of Polish enterprises that are connected with the food industry have closed or reduced production amid rising prices for hydrocarbons.

For example, Grupa Azoty shut down its fertilizer business, while Capital Group's chemical plants cut ammonia production by 10%.

For this reason, the newspaper writes, the food industry is faced with a shortage of goods necessary for the production, such as carbon dioxide.

Because of this, the publication emphasizes, there is a threat that in a few weeks meat, dairy products and other goods may disappear from the shelves of Polish stores.

Earlier, Helen Thompson, professor of political economy at the University of Cambridge, said that the West faces an “energy retribution” in winter for the lack of Russian gas.
