“The United States and other countries will continue to call on Russia to end its military activities near the ZNPP and return control of the nuclear power plant to Ukraine,” the State Department said in a statement.

Earlier, the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was unable to adopt a final document due to the topic of the conflict in Ukraine, said UN Deputy Secretary General for Disarmament Izumi Nakamitsu.

As Andrey Belousov, Deputy Representative of Russia to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, noted, Ukraine and its Western curators bear full responsibility for the fact that the participants in the NPT review conference failed to adopt the final document.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Moscow had distributed photographs in the Security Council and the UN General Assembly showing the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian army.
