The

Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco)

has announced this Sunday the opening of an informative file for the macro-party without permits and with a hundred boats that was held on the weekend of August 20 and 21 on the island of

the Mar Menor Deer, in the Region of Murcia.

From this file and if it is proven that the law has been violated, sanctions may be applied, indicates the Ministry in a statement, in which it points out that the legislation on environmental protection of the protected space, maritime safety and recreational activities could have been breached, since that the meeting had no permissions or control.

The department headed by

Teresa Ribera

points to the

Department of the Environment of the Region of Murcia

as "responsible" for "avoiding disturbance to its flora and fauna" and points out that in the face of a "large-scale" party "it should have been informed previously" to the

Directorate of Coasts and the Maritime Captaincy,

both dependent on the Ministry.

"The lack of prior control of the recreational activities that take place in the Mar Menor by the regional government favors the excesses that alter the delicate balance of the ecosystem of this protected area", affirms the Ministry.

And he sees

"a serious breach" of the Comprehensive Management Plan for

the protected areas of the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean coastline of the Region of Murcia.

It also points out that due to the lack of prior control, the regulations that regulate festivals and recreational activities, also regional competence, are also breached, and that "lack of authorization of the naval concentration by the Maritime Captaincy, as well as having the boats alongside, breaches the Maritime Safety Regulations".

The Ministry maintains that "it should not be surprising" that the

Prosecutor

's Office has requested an investigation from

Seprona,

and emphasizes that the Ministry will open a file "to identify the possible sanctions that should be applied."
