A large-scale trade fair of traditional Persian carpets was held in Iran.

As the industry has been hit by economic sanctions by the United States, producers have expressed hope that the nuclear agreement, which is currently being negotiated, will be restructured and the sanctions will be lifted.

The fair was held in the capital Tehran on the 28th and was attended by approximately 600 Persian carpet producers and dealers from all over Iran.

Known for its delicate and vivid patterns, Persian carpets are traditional handicrafts that have been around since BC, and are a major industry in Iran with more than 2 million people working in the country.

However, in 2018, the Trump administration unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear agreement in which the international community lifted sanctions in return for restricting Iran's nuclear development and resumed sanctions. decreased to one-fourth.

For this reason, the producers who participated expressed their hope that the indirect talks currently underway between Iran and the United States will be concluded and the sanctions will be lifted in order to rebuild the nuclear agreement.

A man who has inherited the production of carpets as a family business for generations said, ``If the carpets are kept in a warehouse, we cannot feed the craftsmen.I hope that a win-win agreement will be realized.''

Also, Farafnaz Rafe, director of the National Carpet Center, which hosted the fair, said, ``If sanctions are lifted, people around the world will be able to enjoy this beauty.''
