China News Agency, Hong Kong, August 28 (Reporter Han Xingtong) The Center for Health Protection of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Department of Health announced on the 28th that as of 0:00 that day, there were 9,708 new positive cases of the new coronavirus in Hong Kong.
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection, said that of the new cases, 9,495 were local cases, of which 2,930 were nucleic acid test positive cases and 6,565 were rapid test positive cases reviewed by nucleic acid tests.
There are another 213 imported cases.
Li Liye, Chief Administrative Manager (Integrated Clinical Services) of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA), said that there are currently 2,453 confirmed patients in hospital, of which 339 are newly confirmed patients.
In the past day, 10 new deaths were reported, involving 8 men and 2 women, aged between 62 and 99, 6 of whom had not completed the three doses of the new crown vaccine.
Li Liye said that in response to the development of the epidemic and the continuous increase in confirmed cases, the Hospital Authority has launched the third phase of the hospital bed mobilization plan, reserving more hospital beds and mobilizing more staff to take care of confirmed patients.
In order to concentrate manpower and resources to further strengthen designated clinics and remote consultation services to support confirmed patients in the community, some general outpatient clinics under the HA will adjust their services from the 29th, including suspending or reducing consultations in some clinics period.
At the same time, public hospitals need to reduce some non-emergency services, including some non-urgent surgeries, day and outpatient services, and the treatment of some patients also needs to be postponed.
