The British Ministry of Defense has assessed that Russia's plan to increase its troops will not have a significant impact on the war in Ukraine.

The British Ministry of Defense said in a daily situation report on the 28th local time that it is not known whether Russia's military recruitment method will be voluntary enlistment or conscription, but said that either method will not have a significant impact on the war.

The Pentagon said on Twitter that "Russia lost tens of thousands of soldiers in the war, recruited very few new contractors, and conscripts were not technically obligated to serve outside Russian territory".

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a presidential decree on the 25th, setting the number of troops to 1,15628, 137,000 more than before.

The amended Presidential Decree will come into effect on January 1, next year.

As Russia has recently accelerated its military expansion, reports have emerged that even prisoners are offering to enlist in exchange for money and freedom.

Western officials estimate Russian casualties at between 70,000 and 80,000, the BBC said.
