This was reported by the press service of the Joint Headquarters of the organization.

“On August 25, servicemen of the mountain unit of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia conquered the highest mountain peak in Russia and Europe, Elbrus, and planted the flag of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on its top,” the message says.

The installation of the flag is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the CSTO itself.

The flag was set by military personnel from Armenia, as the country is the chairman of the CSTO this year.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced joint exercises with Kazakhstan within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
