This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“We expect the Cypriot authorities to conduct a thorough, objective and impartial investigation and take action in accordance with applicable national law,” the statement said.

According to Zakharova, the Russian embassy is in constant contact with the Cypriot police regarding this incident.

Zakharova noted that the attack is another example of the spread of aggressive Russophobia abroad.

Earlier it became known that a native of Ukraine attacked with a knife a group of Russian activists in Larnaca, Cyprus during an event dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of Russia.

The police in Cyprus released a Ukrainian woman who attacked Russian activists with a knife until the trial, which will take place on September 19.
