The Algerian news agency reported today, Wednesday, that Sonatrach announced an oil discovery in the Sabaa area in the southern state of Adrar.

The company said - in a statement via its Facebook account today - that this discovery comes 28 years after the last oil discovery in Raqa'a Sebaa in 1994, and it is located 6 kilometers from the Hassi Elato processing center.

The agency added - quoting the Algerian state-owned company - that the size of the oil discovery ranges between 48 and 150 million barrels, and the company explained that this positive result is very encouraging for the continuation of the activity of exploration for liquid hydrocarbons in Raga'at al-Sabaa in order to ensure the supply of the Adrar refinery.

Sonatrach announced a month ago that it had made 3 new discoveries in the south of the country, including two gas discoveries, depending on its own effort, and an oil discovery in partnership with the Italian company Eni.
