Iran reviews the US response to the European Union's plan to save the nuclear deal

Iran said it was reviewing US President Joe Biden's administration's response to a European Union-drafted rescue plan for the 2015 nuclear deal, including US statements about Tehran's proposed amendments.

And the Bloomberg news agency quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani as saying today, Wednesday, that Iran will comment on Washington’s response as soon as the assessment is completed, without providing further details.

A European official confirmed that the bloc had received the American response and passed it on to Iranian officials.

Diplomats want a deal that reimposes limits on Iran's nuclear program, which is making rapid progress in return for the lifting of US sanctions on the Iranian economy, including oil exports.

The original nuclear deal collapsed after former US President Donald Trump withdrew from it in 2018.
