Ahmed Al Khatri: “Documenting non-Muslim marriage contracts has contributed to achieving societal stability by placing social relations in a clear formal framework.”

The Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department has documented 96 marriage contracts for non-Muslim residents who wish to do so, according to specific conditions and procedures.

The head of the department, Counselor Ahmed Muhammad Al-Khateri, said that according to the procedures in force in the department, a non-Muslim resident, regardless of his nationality or religion, can document the marriage contract by applying for a marriage contract service from the Marriage Contracts Department.

The contract is made on the basis of the request through the authorized officials, provided that the contract is approved by the competent judge.

He explained that the existence of legal regulation for documenting marriage contracts for non-Muslims contributed to facilitating marriage procedures for all segments of society, building a cohesive family and achieving stability, by placing social relations in a clear formal framework.

He added that the department, in cooperation with the e-Government Authority, has developed the service of documenting marriage contracts into the "digital authorized service", as the first innovative application, where the service of documenting marriage contracts is shortened to 15 minutes, and the authorized person can document the marriage contract and attach all the required documents, including The electronic signature of the guardian and witnesses and fingerprinting, through an innovative application on a digital device that can be used from anywhere in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, without the need for the husband or his relatives to be present at the headquarters of the Courts Department.

He pointed out that the application reduced the costs of completing the service, and reduced the number of visitors to the department, which in turn reduced the expenses of using the department's facilities.
