The Front for the Liberation of the Cabinda Enclave, the Flec-Fac, resumes its military actions, on the occasion of the general elections in Angola.

On Wednesday August 24, as Angolans went to the polls, the Cabindan armed forces of Flec-Fac claimed responsibility for the death of eleven Angolan soldiers on the territory of the province, near the DRC border.

Pro-independence activists stepped up operations ahead of an election they called for a boycott in the province.

The operations are not confirmed by the Angolan army, but Cabindan separatists claim five attacks in the enclave and several dozen deaths among Angolan soldiers since Sunday.

A way to attract attention at the time of the elections, which the separatists have called for a boycott in the province.

," the spokesperson for the Front de liberation de l'enclave de Cabinda told RFI, while saying he hoped for the opening of negotiations with the authorities of Luanda, under the aegis of the two Congos. , bordering the Angolan province.

The last coup of the Cabindan separatists dates back to 2010, at the time of the African Cup of Nations, organized in Angola.

Since then, low-intensity warfare has continued in the enclave.

Le Flec says it is recruiting a lot at the moment among young Cabindans, who are particularly hard hit by unemployment.

The province receives very little investment despite being Angola's most resource-rich province, thanks to offshore oil.
