It took three tries, but after two initial convictions, the Federal Court in Kuala Lumpur has indeed declared former Prime Minister Najib Razak guilty of abuse of power, money laundering and 'breach of trust.

Until the last moment, however, this verdict seemed uncertain, in particular after various attempts by the former Prime Minister to postpone his trial.

But at 69, the politician who has remained very popular today will sleep well in prison.

The absence of Jho Low

However, this condemnation remains only a tiny part of the gigantic 1MDB corruption case, since this trial only concerned 9 million out of the approximately 4.5 billion of public money embezzled.

Finally, one man is still conspicuous by his absence: Jho Low, the crook considered to be the instigator of this corruption affair of an unequaled scale.

This 40-year-old Malaysian remains a fugitive who has not yet had to answer for his actions before the justice of his country.
