Mattias Viilhelmsson is the prosecutor and head of the preliminary investigation in the case and says that it is too early to comment on any details of the crime.

He does not want to answer why the suspicions of attempted murder are no longer the basis for this weekend's arrest, or whether there may be another person who may be involved in the shooting itself.

- I cannot comment on that at the moment, says Mattias Villhelmsson.

If the incident has anything to do with previous shootings in Gävle, or is assumed to have some connection to gang-related violence, Mattias Vilhelmsson does not want to answer either.

Previously convicted

The man who is now in custody is in his 20s and lives in Uppsala.

He is previously known to the justice system and has been involved in an investigation regarding serious weapons and drug crimes since the fourth of August - that is, almost two weeks before the shooting in Sätra in Gävle.

- He has previously been convicted, but then for minor offences, says Mattias Vilhelmsson.

Much work remains

Charges must be brought by the second of September at the latest, and until then there is a lot of technical investigation to be done.

- It is very early in the investigation now, but we will hold new interviews.

There are witnesses, people who live in the area, says Mattias Vilhelmsson.
