“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United States celebrated Flag Day with a children’s drawing competition and a light projection of the national symbol on the building of the diplomatic mission,” the diplomatic mission said in a Facebook statement*.

Every year on August 22, Russia celebrates the Day of the State Flag.

Earlier, military historian, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov stressed that the flag of the Russian Federation is a symbol of independence, freedom and multinational unity.

Senator, member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Olga Kovitidi said in an interview with RT that for the Crimeans the Russian flag has become a symbol of honor, valor and glory.
