13 suspects arrested in connection with the Algerian fires

A security official in Algeria announced the arrest of 13 people suspected of involvement in the forest fires that affected separate regions of the country and left at least 43 people dead.

The Communications Department, led by the National Gendarmerie, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, said that investigations are still ongoing.

An official in the gendarmerie in the state of El Tarf indicated that the number of victims of forest fires in the region has risen to 36, making it the most affected state.

A local committee reported earlier that among the victims were 11 children and 6 women.

The forest fires in Algeria, which were brought under control, also injured 183 people, as well as burning more than 10,000 hectares of land.
