At the 2022 International Standardization Conference held on the 20th, the International Electrotechnical Commission proposed that China should lead the formulation of the world's first international standard framework system for key technologies of new power systems, accelerate the construction of new power systems, and promote clean and low-carbon energy transformation.

The new power system is different from the current power system in my country that uses coal power as the main power source. It is based on wind, solar, nuclear, biomass and other new energy sources. Multiple energy sources complement each other and support a highly electrified power system for the whole society. It is an important hub platform to promote clean and low-carbon transformation of energy and support the implementation of the "dual carbon" goal.

According to the International Electrotechnical Commission, China's new energy installed capacity and power generation have been the world's largest for many years, and the industrial scale and market scale of wind power, photovoltaics, and lithium batteries have ranked first in the world.

Led by China, coordinating the research on the international standard framework system and standard internationalization strategy of the new power system will help the global energy transition.

At present, the International Electrotechnical Commission is listing the topics proposed by China, such as carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, energy transition, and zero-carbon power systems, into its strategic plan. In the next five years, it will initiate the establishment of one or two new technology committees in the field of low-carbon energy. , cultivate 10 to 20 international standards.

Chairman of the International Electrotechnical Commission Shu Yinbiao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering: The international standardization work has entered a new period of development, and the dual-carbon goal proposed by my country has been highly praised by the international community.

The development focus of my country's international standardization is: to form a complete standard system in technical standards, measurement and certification, and to establish fair and reasonable international carbon governance rules around the dual carbon goals and major needs.

At the conference, the International Electrotechnical Commission International Standards Promotion Center was also established.

The center will help Chinese enterprise experts to formulate more international standards in the field of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality led by my country, and promote the implementation of the new power system strategic plan.
