HBO didn't wait long to capitalize on the universe's popularity by launching a spin-off called House of the Dragon.
A new series in prequel form set centuries before the events known to fans.
The story chronicles the Targaryen Civil War as followers of Aegon Targaryen oppose his half-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen, ascending the throne left to him by his late father Viserys I.
This conflict will lead to The Dance of the Dragons, the loss of the dragons and the beginning of the fall of House Targaryen.
House of the Dragon promises to take up the ingredients of Game of Thrones between betrayals, scheming, violence and reversal of situations.
