- We show that it works and that it is really in the fence, says Ylva Lagesson who is business area manager at NCC Industry, which runs the fence in Södra Sandby.

This week, a press screening was organized once the dump truck was in place, and Volvo CE CEO Melker Jernberg was also on hand to see the vehicle in its proper environment.

- In the steel industry, it has not previously been possible to make fossil-free steel, at least no one has believed in it, he says.

More on the way

According to Melker Jernberg, it won't be long until the next fossil-free steel vehicle can be in operation.

- Several others are underway as well, so this accelerates the entire need and societal debate.

But it will take a number of years before all steel is fossil-free, he says.

Hanna Strömberg, who was given the task of driving the dump truck in front of the assembled press corps, was also present at the scene - basically nothing special, but with a slightly different feeling.

- It feels a little better, she says.

In the clip above, you can follow along down the roof and see the fossil-free steel vehicle loading asphalt.
