Forty-eight hours after the terrible bad weather that killed five people on the Isle of Beauty, the time is now to take stock of the damage.

Europe 1 went to meet residents and holidaymakers who, despite the long hours of anguish, salute the solidarity that was put in place just after the tragedy.

After the storms that killed five people, it's time to take stock of the damage in Corsica.

The orange vigilance was lifted and the evacuated campers were able to find their tents.

The state of natural disaster will be decreed next Wednesday, according to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, who gave reassuring news of the injured people.

But we must now clean up the damage caused by the gusts at more than 200 kilometers per hour and sweep away the fear that has reigned over the past two days.

Both residents and holidaymakers want above all to retain the solidarity that was put in place after the tragedy.

"We were very well taken care of"

On vacation with her companion in a campsite near Porticcio, in the south of the island, Laura wants that despite the hours of anguish experienced under the deluge, to remember only the positive.

"There was a lot of solidarity, especially for those who had no more electricity. For example, we offered them coffee. Everyone had breakfast together and came to dig trenches in front of the tents to avoid flooding. It's always like that in campsites", she underlines.

At the Benista campsite, near Ajaccio, it was necessary to relocate dozens of families sleeping in a tent.

"Frankly, it was great on the part of the campers, on the part of people from outside who even called us to say 'I can accommodate disaster victims'.

In Figari, Nathalie's campsite was not devastated, but for 24 hours, this tourist from Provence, like all campers, had to leave her vacation spot by decision of the prefect.

"We were sent to a school room. The mayor took care of us. We were very well taken care of, we had our little meal in the evening and we were on top," she smiles.

And without forgetting the heavy human toll of the storm, the vacationers that Europe 1 met now want to continue their vacation by going to the beach and simply living.
