An eyewitness was entering the mall when she saw a crowd come running towards her.

She describes what she saw as a chaotic situation.

- They shouted "it's a shooting, it's a shooting" and we didn't understand anything.

Then we saw how shocked everyone was and stood in a corner, she says.

She continues:

- I was also involved in the terrorist attack on Drottninggatan in 2017, this feels very difficult.

A man who was also on his way into Emporia says that at first he thought it was an act of terrorism.

His wife was inside the mall.

- She heard a lot of shots and thought they were balloons, but when even more shots were heard, she ran outside.

"Heard people screaming"

Greta Vüays and Valeriia Boiko were in a shop near the shooting.

- Out of nowhere we heard people screaming.

I see a woman come in and shout 'gun, gun, run,' says Valeriia.

They say they hid in a store for about 20 minutes before they were able to get out.

- It felt worse when we went out, because then we understood what had happened, says Valeriia.

"Am I getting shot in the back now?"

Many people who came to Emporia by car cannot get their cars out because of the roadblocks.

- We come from Ystad and can pick up the car tomorrow.

Now we spend the night with dad, says Malin Weibull to SVT.

Malin, her partner and their nine-year-old daughter were sitting in a restaurant when people started running.

- There was a cluster that ran, then even more came.

They wondered what had happened.

Then we also started running.

Malin Weibull says that she was scared when the family ran out.

- I thought am I getting shot in the back now?

Then I thought about what would then happen to our nine-year-old daughter.

It was traumatic.
