• Events Two men drowned on a beach in Salou and the son of one of them was rescued in critical condition

The

15-year

-old minor rescued yesterday in critical condition on a beach in

Salou

(Tarragona), where his father and another man drowned, has died at the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona, sources from the center have reported this Friday.

The boy was rescued yesterday at Els Capellans

beach in Salou

around 3:30 p.m. with his 46-year-old father and another 60-year-old man, who drowned despite attempts to resuscitate lifeguards and toilets.

The beach where the events took place is under surveillance and at the time of the mishap the

flag was being changed from yellow to red

, which prohibits bathing, due to the mistral wind.

The three fatalities are of Romanian nationality and with them, the number of deaths on Catalan beaches this summer amounts to 20, according to data from Civil Protection.

Yesterday, the Emergency Medical System (SEM) moved six ground units, a command vehicle and a medicalized helicopter, but the health workers were unable to save the lives of the adults and the minor was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the case and have taken over the proceedings.

Civil Protection urges extreme precautions on the beach, opt for those that have a lifeguard service and remember that information on the services, flag and capacity of the same can be consulted on its website.

Finally, remember that if you see someone in difficulty, you must notify the lifeguards or call 112.
