“Putin, in particular, stressed that the systematic shelling by the Ukrainian military of the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant creates the risk of a large-scale catastrophe,” the Kremlin press service quoted Putin as saying.
The Russian president emphasized that such a development of events could provoke radiation contamination of vast territories.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry warned of the risks for European countries in the event of an accident at the ZNPP.
The Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, called on the Kyiv authorities to stop the attacks and provide security guarantees to the members of the IAEA mission for their visit to the site.
