The accident happened on July 28 when two skiers collided after one got over on the wrong side.

A woman was seriously injured and a man was less seriously injured.

An accident investigation has been carried out, by an external investigator from the emergency services, to provide answers to how the accident may have happened and to reduce risks and minimize the consequences of any accidents in the future.

Some actions already taken

Since the accident occurred, personnel within the technical department at Torsby municipality, together with tunnel personnel, have taken several measures to increase safety going forward.

The tunnel wall in the accident area has been padded, the snow quality has been reviewed and an internal risk analysis is being prepared.

Suggestion to piss daily

In the new report, the Rescue Service proposes further measures.

Among other things, it is proposed to have padded walls in several places in the tunnel, working emergency telephones, and to consider pisting the tracks every day even if there are few riders.

- Now we take the report to heart and look further at what improvement measures are required going forward.

The report states that it is difficult to completely prevent accidents from happening in the tunnel, but we must of course do what we can, says deputy municipal director Anders Björck in a press release.
