The Egyptian Public Prosecution has completed its investigations into the fire of the Abu Sefein Church, in the Imbaba area, which occurred last Sunday and led to deaths and injuries.

And she said in a statement published - on her Facebook page today - that her investigations concluded that the fire that broke out in the church of the Great Martyr Philopateer Mercurius Abu Sefein in Imbaba, in Giza Governorate, was not intentional.

According to the statement of the prosecution, “the investigations confirmed that the cause of the accident was the ignition of an electric generator inside the church after it was turned on, due to a power outage in the church in conjunction with the return of the current, due to a defect in the electrical connections coming out of the generator, which were installed 5 years ago, and its irregular extension to the switchboard, and the increased loads.” on it, which resulted in the outbreak of the fire, and its tongues extending from the floor where the generator is located to another floor.”

The investigations also confirmed that no one "did not intend to cause the fire."

According to the statement, the prosecution had ascertained from this result the consistency of the anecdotal evidence in the investigations with the technical evidence in it, as it asked "33 witnesses, including 16 injured."

Police investigations, supported by witnesses, also confirmed that no one deliberately caused the bad condition of the connections and generator, or caused the fire, which led the Public Prosecution to save the investigations.

A large fire broke out during a mass in the Abu Sefein Church, which resulted in the death of 41 people, including the priest of the church, and the injury of 14 others.
