Greece is preparing for a severe heat wave starting today

The Greek Meteorological Service said that the country should prepare for a severe heat wave from Thursday, which is not expected to break before Sunday, and the central regions of the country will be hardest hit.

Meteorologists added that temperatures may reach 42 degrees Celsius, and it is noteworthy that the sea is currently warmer than usual, while the temperature is expected to range from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius in Bahrain, Aegean and Ionian, in the coming days.

Doctors' advice on dealing with hot weather is repeated on the Greek radio network, where citizens are warned that exposure to the heat for longer periods of time leads to cardiovascular problems.

The authorities in Athens have opened halls to people who do not have air conditioning at home.
