Algeria fires death toll rises to 38

Violent forest fires in recent days in Algeria have killed at least 38 people, according to a new death toll released Thursday based on official sources and testimonies of journalists interviewed by AFP.

The death toll from the fires rose to 30 in the Tarfa region in the Far East, near the border with Tunisia, five in Souk Ahras, two women in Setif (east), and one person in Guelma, also in the east, according to the Civil Protection, local journalists and television.
