Abu Dhabi Police fines 162 drivers for "dumping waste while driving"

Abu Dhabi Police violated 162 drivers, in cooperation with the Control and Follow-up Center, for throwing waste on roads and public facilities while driving their vehicles during the first half of 2022 AD, and advised road users to dump garbage and waste in the designated places, taking into account environmental safety and public health, and preserving the civilized appearance of the Emirate.

She called on vehicle drivers to adhere to and alert passengers with them not to throw any waste and to participate in promoting positive behaviors by preserving the environment and the general appearance of cities, explaining that this behavior may cause environmental pollution, and urged the need to cooperate with the competent authorities to take care of health, safety and the environment by disposing of waste used in containers. She stated that the Traffic Law clarified in Article No. 71 that "throwing waste from vehicles on the road is a violation while driving", with a fine of 1,000 dirhams, and 6 traffic points registered for violating drivers.

 She stressed the keenness to continue its efforts in educating drivers and road users to avoid uncivil behaviors committed by some drivers carelessly and causing distortion of the environment.
