According to recent data issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the total value of foreign aid provided by the UAE during the period from the beginning of 2021 until mid-August this year amounted to about 13 billion dirhams.

Yemen acquired the largest share of the UAE’s foreign aid, with a total amount exceeding one billion and 160 million dirhams, while the list included a number of Arab, Asian, African and Western countries, in a clear translation of the comprehensiveness of the UAE’s support for projects and humanitarian needs around the world, which are not related to the political orientations of the countries benefiting from them. The data showed that aid is targeting a wide range of areas and sectors, reflecting the diversity of aid programs provided by the UAE and its response to the nature of the needs of the targeted countries.

Aid targeting public programs topped the list of sectors most benefiting with a total amount of more than four billion and 547 million dirhams, followed by the health sector with more than two billion and 565 million dirhams, then aid from various commodities with more than one billion and 989 million dirhams, then social services with more than one billion and 314 million dirhams. million dirhams, followed by the education sector with 547 million dirhams.

The value of the aid provided to the sectors related to transportation and storage amounted to more than 414 million dirhams, while the aid provided to support the peace and security sector amounted to more than 273 million dirhams, and the total aid to the water and public health sector amounted to more than 268 million dirhams, while the total aid provided to support governments and society amounted to The civil sector was about 224 million dirhams, then the energy sector and its supply was about 212 million dirhams, and the total value of the aid provided to the agricultural sector was more than 184 million dirhams.

Today, the UAE celebrates the World Humanitarian Day, which this year bears the slogan “one hand does not clap”, to express the importance of collective effort and to strengthen the international coalition for humanitarian action.

The occasion bears great symbolism for the UAE, which has made great achievements that made it lead relief efforts and humanitarian work at the regional and international levels, which was exemplified by its holding for many years the first positions in the world among the largest donors of foreign aid in the world in relation to its national income.

The world celebrates the International Day of Humanitarian Action on August 19 of each year, believing in its importance in promoting development in many countries facing challenges, economic conditions or natural disasters.
