“The US government, through the Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the World Food Program, will spend $68 million to purchase, transport and store up to 150,000 metric tons of Ukrainian grain to address acute food shortages,” the State Department website said in a statement.

It is noted that this measure will supplement the initial shipment of 23 thousand tons of grain to support the Horn of Africa, where there is a drought.

Earlier, Frederic Jay Kenny, the UN temporary representative at the Joint Coordinating Center in Istanbul, spoke about the great interest of ship owners in participating in grain exports from Ukraine.
