The suspense did not last long.

Shortly after the polls closed, Liz Cheney appeared in her Jackson Hole stronghold to concede defeat to Donald Trump-backed Harriet Hageman.

Liz Cheney explains that she could have easily won this primary by endorsing the lie of the former president on the 2020 election. But she refused to do so, instead becoming the spokesperson for those who among the

Republicans still oppose Donald Trump

despite his obvious hold on the party.

Member of the right wing of the Republicans

Daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney is a right-wing Republican.

Elected to the House of Representatives six years ago, this jurist has always defended Wyoming's fossil fuel industry;

she is pro-gun and anti-abortion.

She supported the policies of Donald Trump, until the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2020. An attack on democracy and the American Constitution for which Liz Cheney holds the former American president responsible.

But she also points the finger at her Republican colleagues who continue to support the

Trump congratulates himself on his defeat

Donald Trump reacted quickly to this defeat of Liz Cheney with a press release.

He is pleased with this “

wonderful result for America

 ”.

And he adds that Liz Cheney can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion.

This is clearly not the intention of the person concerned.

First, she is still elected until January 2023 like the other members of the Commission of Inquiry into the attack on the Capitol and underlines that her work is not finished.

According to her, it is only just beginning.

Then, she cites the example of Abraham Lincoln, beaten twice in the elections for the chamber and the Senate before winning the biggest election, the presidential one and saving the union.
