The man who shot his father with a hunting rifle in their shared home will be sentenced to life in prison for murder.

The man appealed the verdict in the Court of Appeal and claimed manslaughter and a fixed-term prison sentence.

However, the Court of Appeal decided to confirm the judgment in Lycksele Tingsrätt.

The justification reads: "Similar to the district court, the Court of Appeal further considers that the investigation in this case does not support any mitigating circumstances.

The Court of Appeal thus shares the district court's assessment that the act is of such a qualified serious nature that it justifies a life sentence.

The man remains in custody until the prison sentence comes into force.
