This morning, Wednesday, August 17, the Syrian artist, Antoinette Najib, died in Damascus, at the age of 92, after a busy artistic career, during which she left 150 works between theater, cinema and television.

The Syrian capital (Damascus) branch of the Syrian Artists Syndicate mourned the late artist, in a post on his Facebook page.

The Syrian artist died after suffering several health problems in the past period, and she was subjected to a dialysis session once a week and permanently, and she was exposed to major health crises, one of which in February 2019 led to her entering intensive care.

Hundreds of artworks

Antoinette Najib was born on February 20, 1930, in the Syrian city of Daraa, and is considered one of the most prominent art stars in Syria. In her artistic career, she presented more than 150 works between theater, cinema and television.

An actress appeared for the first time in the movie "Naked Without Sin" in 1967, then she joined the Syrian Artists Syndicate in 1968, and in 1971 she participated in the films "A Woman Dwells Alone" and "One + One".

Characterized by the role of a mother

Antoinette played many roles, but she excelled in particular in the role of the mother, and presented various theatrical works and contributed to many radio works, and participated in 1973 in the films "Apartment of Love" and "A Confused Woman".

One of her most famous television roles in the same year was the series "Sah Al Nom", and in 1976 she participated in the movie "The Forbidden Love", after which she was absent from the screen and moved away from acting for 6 years.

In 1982, she returned to participate in the series "Al-Saad Waad", and then in dozens of works of art between series, films and plays.
