Resumption of full diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid announced today, Wednesday, that his government will restore full diplomatic relations with Turkey after years of tension between the two countries.

"It was decided once again to raise the level of relations between the two countries to the level of full diplomatic relations and to return ambassadors and consuls general of the two countries," Lapid said in a statement.

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a press conference that Turkey "will not abandon the Palestinian cause" despite the resumption of full diplomatic relations with Israel.

He added that both Turkey and Israel would reappoint an ambassador to the other to normalize relations.
