Nikkei: Russia has notified a number of Japanese companies about the transfer of Sakhalin-2 to a new operator

It is noted that we are talking about the Kyushu Electric Power Company and Saibu Gas Co, which purchase gas from Sakhalin-2.

At the end of June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the application of special economic measures in the fuel and energy sector in connection with the unfriendly actions of a number of countries.

According to the document, Sakhalin Energy, the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, will be replaced by a new legal entity - Russian.

The Russian government has published a resolution on the establishment of Sakhalin Energy LLC, which will become the operator of the Sakhalin-2 PSA.

Andrey Oleinikov, the current head of the Sakhalin Energy branch, will become the manager of the newly created company.

At the same time, the Japanese authorities announced the country's intention to maintain its participation in the Sakhalin-2 project after a new decree of the Russian government.
