The moderates want to introduce high-cost protection

The moderates

want to introduce a high-cost protection model from Norway.

There, the state compensates households for part of the electricity costs when the price exceeds a certain level, for example "75 percent of everything that goes over 1 kroner per kilowatt hour", as economic policy spokesperson Elisabeth Svantesson suggested.

The cost amounts to SEK 15 billion over a period of three months, which is to be financed through canceled GNI adjustment of the aid, a redistribution of money from the climate step and through increased profit from Vattenfall.

The Sweden Democrats want to temporarily lower taxes and VAT

The Sweden Democrats

want to temporarily lower the tax and VAT on electricity during the winter months (November-February).

The tax must be lowered to the lowest possible level, 6 öre per kilowatt hour, according to SD's proposal, which can be compared to today's 36 öre per kilowatt hour.

The current 25 percent VAT must in turn be abolished completely.

It would cost a few billion kroner to lower the tax, according to energy policy spokesperson Mattias Bäckström Johansson.

The effects of abolishing VAT are more difficult to assess because it depends on the price.

The Christian Democrats want to temporarily abolish VAT

The Christian Democrats

want to temporarily abolish VAT on electricity for less than four months (December to March).

At the same time, the tax on electricity is proposed to be variable and reduced by at least 10 öre if the price exceeds the average for the last five years.

In total, it would take place at a cost of SEK 15 billion, which is to be financed with a tax on the electricity companies' profits.

The Liberals want to lower taxes and VAT

The Liberals

want to lower both the tax and the VAT on electricity.

The party proposes that the tax on electricity in a first step be reduced by 5 öre per kilowatt hour (from 36 öre per kilowatt hour) and then gradually reduced during the coming term.

The goal is to eventually halve the tax.

The VAT, in turn, is to be reduced from 25 to 6 percent.

In addition to that, the party also wants to enact a law requiring uniform electricity prices throughout the country.

The reduced VAT is estimated to mean around 16 billion in reduced tax revenue, while the equivalent for the first stage of tax reductions is 4 billion.

The Center Party wants to lower the electricity grid fee

The Center Party

wants to lower the electricity grid fee by 30 percent in 2024. The party also wants a deduction to be introduced for measures that make energy use more efficient.

For the installation of district heating or a heat pump, a household could receive a maximum of SEK 25,000 in deductions from the cost.

According to the party, Svenska kraftnät should also be tasked with buying electricity production at price peaks in order to push the price down.

The Social Democrats want to compensate households with 30 billion

The Social Democrats

want to compensate households with at least SEK 30 billion by using a surplus of income from the Swedish power grid.

The authority must investigate how the electricity costs for households can be reduced directly or via, among other things, network charges.

Households in southern Sweden, which accounted for most of the income, receive the most support.

The left party wants to separate the domestic electricity market

The left party

wants to separate the domestic electricity market and the one for export and introduce so-called "Swedish prices".

The purpose is that the price for Swedish households should only be affected by the electricity production that takes place for the Swedish market, something which, according to the party, would not affect exports.

The goal is to stabilize the electricity price around 40 öre per kilowatt hour.

The Green Party wants to introduce state subsidies for energy conversion

The Green Party

wants the state to be responsible for 80 percent of household measures to make energy use more efficient.

Measures that qualify for support include the installation of geothermal heating or a heat pump and improvements to ventilation and insulation.

Språkröret Per Bolund has said that the party is no stranger to the type of support launched by the Moderates and the Social Democrats, but that the proposal for energy efficiency is a better way to use state funds.

The party has not made any calculations on what it would cost.
