An explosion on Tuesday August 16 at the University of Ouahigouya, in the north of the country, injured one person.

An improvised explosive device destroyed a vehicle.

A situation that raises concern among the population.

Created in December 2017, the University of Ouahigouya is located about ten kilometers from Ouahigouya on national road number 2 (RN2).

Armed terrorist groups are increasingly rampant around the capital of the northern region.

A fire, the origin of which remains unknown for the moment, preceded the explosion.

According to local sources, the fire consumed the reprography room where the student control documents were stored.

An investigation has been opened to clarify the causes of the fire.

According to several sources, citing a witness, it was the day before - Monday - around 9 p.m. that individuals broke into the university, breaking down doors and searching some offices.

On Tuesday afternoon, around 3 p.m., after the fire was brought under control and the use reports cordoned off by the police, a vehicle jumped on an improvised explosive device in the courtyard of the university. .

In the same night from Monday to Tuesday, offices of the town hall of Goula, located about fifteen kilometers from Ouahigouya, and the ambulance of this town were also set on fire by other armed men.
