Big shortage of sour strömming - sold out in several stores in Västerbotten

There is limited supply of surströmming this year, and it shows in the stores, which sell out of this year's cans in no time.

At Ica Supermarket in Lycksele, the cans that came in on Wednesday morning ran out in a few minutes.

At Stora Coop Ersboda in Umeå, the delivery of the stream arrived on Monday, and already the next day it was pretty much finished.

- Unfortunately, we have received far too little.

People bunker down and want their streaming, so it went away, says Joakim Flygare, supermarket manager at the store.

"Never experienced this"

Katarina Arvidsson from Hörnefors was happy when she managed to buy both fillets and whole sturgeons on Tuesday, but she has fought hard for the catch.

- I love surströmming, but I have never experienced that it has been this difficult to get hold of, she says.
