Luleå Pride has been organized since 2012, but despite the tenth anniversary, there will be no outstanding celebration during the week.

- We have chosen to focus on a pride that everyone recognizes, there should not be any major changes.

But we have worked hard to ensure that there will be acts from opening to closing and access to food and drink so that visitors do not have to leave the area, says Joakim Isaksson Markström.

In addition to the traditional pride parade, participants will be able to take part in music, lectures and political hearings with a focus on LGBTQ+ issues.

“There is still a lot to work on”

The purpose of the festival is, among other things, to change the view of LGBTQ+ people and create an equal and multifaceted county.

Isaksson Markström looks back at the incident that caused parents in Pajala to keep their children home from school because of a theater performance with an LGBTQ+ theme.

- We have come a long way, but there is still a lot to work on.

We see that debates flare up about whether to send your children to school or not, says the pride profile.

Students were kept home from hbtqi theater in Pajala.

In the clip, Joakim Isaksson Markström talks about how he sees the development of the LGBTQ+ climate in Norrbotten.
