Since Tuesday, the investigation in the Ayleen case has no longer been with the public prosecutor's office in Freiburg, but with the public prosecutor's office in Giessen.

The police investigations are being conducted by the Soko "Lacus" in the central Hesse police headquarters.

According to a joint statement by the authorities, it can currently be assumed that the 14-year-old girl from Gottenheim in southern Baden in Hesse died.

Ayleen A. disappeared from her hometown on July 21 and was found dead in a lake in Wetteraukreis on July 29.

The suspect is the 29-year-old sex offender Jan P. from the Lahn-Dill district, who was under supervision, but which ended in January 2022.

The accused was arrested by special forces near Friedrichsdorf on the day the dead girl was found.

The investigators also said that the strong suspicion was based primarily on cell phone and cell phone evaluations and on the fact that the girl's personal belongings were found in the suspect's apartment.

There were indications that on the evening of Ayleen A.'s disappearance, July 21, P. was in a parking lot on the A5 near Bruchsal in the direction of Frankfurt.

Police and prosecutors are asking for information from witnesses who saw his car there or in the period up to July 29 near Teufelsee near Echzell in Wetteraukreis.

There is a photo of the car on the website of the Central Hesse Police Headquarters.
