Houthi militias bomb Taiz

Hans Grundberg

Yemeni field sources stated that the Houthi militia bombed two areas in Hazran, west of Taiz, using heavy artillery, Katyusha rockets and machine guns, after the International Council demanded, while listening to the briefing of the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, the need to open Taiz roads, before beginning to expand the peace paths in Yemen.

The sources indicated that the militias bombed, early today, residential neighborhoods east of the city of Taiz, causing intimidation of civilians, and causing material damage to homes and properties.

The US delegate to the Security Council, Linda Thomas Greenfield, had stressed the importance of lifting the Houthi siege on Taiz and opening roads to it as a first step towards securing an expanded agreement for the UN armistice in Yemen.

While Yemen's representative to the United Nations, Abdullah Al-Saadi, called on the Security Council and the international community to reconsider dealing with the behavior of the Houthi militias and to put real pressure on them to engage in good faith in efforts to calm down and bring peace, the UN envoy to Yemen stressed that he will work in the coming weeks to implement the provisions The armistice, its extension and extension.

In his briefing to the Security Council, Hans Grundberg indicated that the extension of the armistice allowed to continue working expeditiously to reach an expanded armistice agreement.

In Sanaa, the Houthi militias continued to display their strength and displayed more weapons and combat equipment that were smuggled during the truce period through the ports of Hodeidah, including multi-capacity and long-distance missiles, drones, and air defense and anti-armor weapons.

The militias also continued their siege on the residents of Hamedan and Bani Hashish districts, and sent fighters and various weapons to tighten the siege on the two districts in order to force the people to hand over their lands to Houthi leaders.

In the Bani Al-Harith area, north of Sanaa, the tribes confronted the Houthi elements' attempt to spread their lands in the "Al-Khamis" area, in the first violent reaction from the tribes of the district against the militias, to join the Bani Hashish and Hamadan districts.

A tribal source stated that the tribes of Bani Al-Harith confirmed that they would not allow the Houthi robbery campaign to extend over land in their district, and any Houthi attempt would be resisted with weapons.
