Ingebrigtsen won in 13 min 21 sec 13, ahead of Spaniard Mohamed Katir (13:22.98) and Italian Yemaneberhan Crippa (13:24.83).

Hugo Hay finished 19th after a fall and Felix Bour 24th and last.

Furious, Hugo Hay sharply explained to Katir after the end of the race, accusing him of having caused his fall four laps from the finish, an incident which prevented him from defending his chances in the final package .

Ingebrigtsen continues to fill his prize list: at only 21 he is now triple European champion (1500 and 5000 m in 2018), Olympic champion in the 1500 m in 2021 in Tokyo, and world champion in the 5000 m in Eugene the month last.

He is also aligned with the 1500m in Munich, where he will be the big favorite on Thursday in the final.

After a race contested at an irregular pace, Ingebrigtsen gradually accelerated in the last three laps, making his competitors give in one by one, until Katir, the last to resist him, finally wore out in the final stretch.
