Falsterbonäset's Nature Conservation Association also criticizes the flagging and believes that all forms of signage or advertising are prohibited in nature reserves.

Daniel Johnsson, the association's chairman, was one of those contacted about the flags on Friday.

- It's a bit offensive.

Our association pushes hard and uncompromisingly for our natural areas to be free from stealth privatization, he tells SVT Nyheter Skåne.

The moderates emailed

The moderates in Vellinge warned in an email to the municipality about their "campaign" with "beach flags" on Hamnvägen.

The party refers to a regulation from the county board regarding posters before this year's elections.

According to this, consultation must take place with the road manager if you want to put up election posters.

- We have interpreted the regulations based on our competence.

This is a public road and we have submitted an application for consultation to the municipality.

We've been doing this for twelve years.

There is some kind of practice, says Martin von Gertten (M), the chairman of the Moderates in Vellinge-Månstorp.

But the road counts as a nature reserve.

What do you think about it?

- Interpreting these laws is not easy.

We have done our best to do it right.

If the county administrative board were to say that it is prohibited, then we respect that.

Strictly prohibited

Karl-Johan Pålsson, nature conservation manager at the county board, is in charge of Flommen's nature reserve:

- There are reserve regulations that say you may not set up grants or the like in nature reserves, he says to SVT.

Have the Vellinge moderates received a dispensation to put up flags in the nature reserve in Skanör?

- Not to my knowledge, says Karl-Johan Pålsson, nature conservation manager.

Several laws

The County Administrative Board received a tip about the case on Monday and is now investigating it.

- In many cases, there are parallel pieces of legislation.

But just because it's ok for one piece of legislation doesn't mean you can break another.

The reserve regulations still apply, says Karin Kavcic, at the nature assessment unit at the County Administrative Board, and continues:

- In the regulation on posters before this year's elections, it is also made clear that election posters may not be put up in violation of the Environmental Code and the Cultural Environment Islands Act.

According to Falsterbonäsets Naturvårdsförening, the flagging has also been reported to the police by a private person.
