Like her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney is a genuine conservative.
But since the Capitol attack, she has become the figurehead of Republicans who still dare to oppose Donald Trump.
The former president wants to bring her down.
For this, he supports an almost unknown, Harriet Hageman.
This is happening in a state where the primaries are not restricted to members of each party.
Explanation with Susan Stubson, Republican Party member from Natrona County, central Wyoming, and support from Liz Cheney.
It's very easy to change partisan affiliation.
We are seeing an unusually high number of party registrations.
These are likely Democrats who change affiliation and declare themselves Republicans, specifically to vote for Cheney.
On the other hand, there have been a lot of registrations of new Republicans.
And there, the whole question is whether these people are unhappy with Liz Cheney, and want to vote for her opponent Harriet Hageman, or the opposite.
Even the former Democratic governor of Wyoming publicly said he was going Republican to vote for Liz Cheney.
It is not certain that this is enough to fill the huge lead that the latest opinion polls give to the Trumpist candidate.
